HØST PtX Esbjerg is committed to supply green hydrogen via Danish-German hydrogen pipeline

HØST PtX Esbjerg, a green hydrogen project developed by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) welcomes the announcement from the Danish government that the planned hydrogen pipeline between Denmark and Germany will be ready in 2030.

Located on the Danish Westcoast, HØST PtX Esbjerg (HØST), is a 1GW electrolysis plant with planned annual production of approximately 120,000 tonnes of green hydrogen. HØST has to date all key fundamentals in place to produce green hydrogen on a large scale: the project has secured land rights, gained access to water as well as access to green electricity via the grid and has obtained the primary environmental approvals. Further, basic design and construction plants are in place.

A significant step in the right direction

Following the announcement from the Danish government that the planned hydrogen pipeline between Denmark and Germany will be ready in 2030, CIP will continue the development of HØST so that the project can be ready to deliver green hydrogen in 2030.

- With today's announcement, the government has breathed new life into the ambitions to make Denmark a leading country in the production of green hydrogen. The agreement today is a significant step in the right direction, with both concrete and usable conditions that creates a robust starting point for the industry. This makes it possible to see a way forward for the Danish hydrogen industry and for the Danish-German hydrogen cooperation. With increased flexibility to build the wind parks and a signal about new risk sharing models, an integrated package has been created which promotes investor interest in offshore wind in Denmark, says Partner in CIP, Karsten Plauborg.

About HØST PtX Esbjerg

Part of CIP’s Energy Transition Fund I, the HØST PtX Esbjerg project is a leading, Danish Power-to-X project under development, deploying large-scale industrial use of electrolysis technology on gigawatt level to produce green hydrogen. Powered entirely by renewables, HØST PtX Esbjerg will produce approximately to 120,000 tonnes of green hydrogen per annum for use in the chemicals industry, predominantly expected in the German market.
