Sustainability and PtX - CIP hosts roundtable talk

Under the heading of ‘Green transition,’ the Social Liberal Party and CIP/HØST PtX Esbjerg, last week hosted a political roundtable discussion in Esbjerg with input from the local energy industry.

Local companies in the energy sector were invited to give their views on the main challenges they face in connection with integrating sustainable solutions/products in their business, and which initiatives they regard as essential to achieve carbon neutrality in 2050.

Det Radikale Venstre (The Social Liberal Party) had invited Martin Lidegaard as key note speaker. Lidegaard is a Danish politician who is a member of the Folketing (Danish parliament) for Det Radikale Venstre. He was Denmark's Foreign Minister in the government of Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt from 2014 to 2015, having previously served as Minister of Climate, Energy and Building from 2011 to 2014. Lidegaard has been a member of the Folketing from 2001 until 2007 and again since the 2015 elections.

Det Radikale Venstre launched a PtX strategy leading up to the meeting in Esbjerg, proposing to establish an air traffic fund whose primary goal is to ensure and promote the pull for green fuels and accelerate the development of Power-to-X. Funding will come from a climate fee added to plane tickets. Det Radikale Venstre anticipates that the initiative will be able to generate 14-15 billion DKK within seven to eight years.
