Harvesting renewable energy
HØST PtX Esbjerg is a leading, Danish Power-to-X project under development, deploying large-scale industrial use of electrolysis technology on gigawatt level to produce ammonia. Powered entirely by renewables, HØST PtX Esbjerg will produce green ammonia for use in fertilizers and in fuels, contributing to the long-term sustainability of agriculture and shipping
The plant is expected to take up the size of 30 ha, equivalent to 42 football lanes
The 1GW plant represents a capital investment of ~1.4 billion EUR, and upon completion it will be one of Europe’s largest Power-to-X facilities
HØST PtX Esbjerg produces enough ammonia to make Denmark self-sufficient with ammonia for fertilizer production
The excess heat from the plant will provide emission-free district heating for app. 15,000 households in Esbjerg, Varde and Fanø municipalities
HØST PtX Esbjerg is anticipated to generate 100-150 permanent jobs within next generation renewables
The plant is expected to contribute with a CO2 reduction of app. 1.5m t annually, equivalent to removing 750,000 cars from the roads
